Tetiana Ohneviuk at the Judicial Forum 2025: Civil Justice in Wartime: Challenges and Trends

On 7 October 2025, on the eve of Lawyer’s Day, the 12th National Judicial Forum “Civil Justice in Wartime: Challenges and Trends” took place. The event was organized by the National Research Council with the support of the Government of Norway, in partnership with the Supreme Court of Ukraine and the Legal Association “DOBROSUD.”

The Forum gathered judges of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, representatives of the High Qualification Commission of Judges, the European Court of Human Rights, and judges of appellate and local courts.

Tetiana Ohneviuk, Partner and Head of the Dispute Resolution Practice at AMBASSADORS, served as moderator of the opening panel dedicated to constitutional guarantees of justice under martial law. The discussion was both candid and highly professional, marked by a shared sense of responsibility for the future of the judiciary. Participants examined how courts in frontline regions continue to operate under extreme human and institutional pressure. Particular attention was devoted to legal certainty in the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, the role of national courts in upholding it, and the risks posed by excessive formalism in judicial proceedings.

In moderating the session, Tetiana emphasized the critical importance of maintaining professional unity and judicial independence, even amid the most challenging circumstances.

The Forum proved to be a strong platform for addressing the current challenges of the judicial system and reaffirmed that Ukrainian justice remains resilient and worthy of public trust.
