The 10th International Intellectual Property Forum

The 10th International Intellectual Property Forum (IPF-2024) took place in Kyiv, organized by “Legal Practice PRAVO.UA” with the support of the Ukrainian National Office for Intellectual Property and Innovations (UANIPIO). AMBASSADORS served as the forum's general partner.

The event aimed to facilitate discussions on the impact of war on intellectual property (IP), strategies for IP development, and global IP trends on the path to victory and Ukraine’s innovation-driven progress.

Yaroslav Ognevyuk, managing partner and head of the Intellectual Property practice at AMBASSADORS, had the honor of speaking at the forum’s first session, dedicated to IP infrastructure. The session featured representatives from the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovations (UANIPIO), the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the State Customs Service, and leading IP professionals.

In his presentation on "International Experience in Implementing National Intellectual Property Strategies," Yaroslav shared AMBASSADORS' analytical research on implementing national IP strategies in the G7 countries, South Korea, China, and Poland. These jurisdictions have a well-defined vision for their IP policies, including clear objectives, implementation roadmaps, performance indicators, and designated authorities responsible for execution. This structured approach enables them to develop robust IP protection systems, fostering innovation and economic growth.

Tetiana Ohneviuk, partner and head of the Dispute Resolution practice at AMBASSADORS, had the privilege of moderating the forum’s third session, dedicated to IP protection. The session brought together judges, representatives of UANIPIO, and leading IP experts. As a seasoned attorney, Tetiana got a creative approach to her role as moderator, guiding discussions on trends in IP dispute resolution in Ukraine, particularly in the practice of the Supreme Court and the Cassation Civil Court. The session also examined landmark European IP cases and other pressing legal issues.

The forum attracted distinguished speakers and a broad audience of professionals who, thanks to the organizers, had the opportunity to engage in expert discussions on a range of critical IP topics.

Reflecting on his participation, Yaroslav Ognevyuk commented:

"IPF stands out as a unique platform for open discussions among IP professionals, private sector representatives, and top-tier experts. The forum leaves a lasting impression of optimism and inspires collaboration to enhance IP development strategies. I extend my gratitude to the organizers for their excellent coordination and for the invitation!"
